Marywood Cruises Past Mount

SCRANTON, PA.-The Mount Saint Mary College men's lacrosse fell to Marywood College by a score of 15-1 in a non-conference match-up on Saturday afternoon. The Knights are now 2-6 on the season and Marywood improves to 5-3 overall.

The Mount struggled to gain momentum early in the game and Marywood raced out to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter. The Pacers exploded for a 9-0 run in the second quarter and the Knights faced a 14-0 deficit going into the half.

Despite outshooting the Pacers 7-5 in the third quarter, the Knights still remained scoreless. A strong defensive effort and solid play in cage by freshman Shawn Cobstill (Oneonta, N.Y.) limited the Pacers to just one goal in the third quarter. Freshman Carlos Almodovar (Plattekill, N.Y.) scored the Knights lone goal of the game with 5:59 remaining in play. Almodovar put home a feed from sophomore Andrew Pullen (Farmingdale, N.Y.) in what would end up being the final goal of the game.

Cobstill finished the day with eleven saves and six groundballs. Pullen also scooped up six groundballs and went 3-5 at the faceoff. Sophomore AJ Silver (Jersey City, N.J.) led the team with two caused turnovers.

The Mount will travel to Mitchell College on Wednesday, March 30 for a non-conference match-up. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. in New London, Connecticut.
