FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Running their win streak to seven consecutive games, the Mount Saint Mary College men's basketball team edged Skyline Conference nemesis, Farmingdale State College, on Saturday by a final score of 74-68. The Knights improved to 15-5 overall and maintained their grasp on first place in the conference at 13-2, while the Rams dropped to 12-8 overall (11-4 Skyline).
Tied at 47-47 with less than eight minutes to play, Mount sophomore
Lenny Ragaglia (Staten Island, N.Y.) sparked an 8-0 run with a three-pointer at the 7:23 mark. Junior
Carlos Valdez (Carolina, Puerto Rico) converted a pair of free throws with 6:39 remaining, but it was a second three-pointer from Ragaglia at 5:46 that put the Knights in the driver's seat, 55-47.
The Rams pulled back to within six with a bucket at the 4:45 mark, but again, it was Ragaglia with the big shot. The sophomore drilled yet another triple, this time on a feed from Valdez, to make the score, 60-51. Farmingdale would get no closer than four points over the final four minutes, allowing the Knights to complete a 74-68 victory.
For the second contest in a row, senior
