NEWBURGH, N.Y. - Making a playoff appearance in their first year as a program, the sixth-seeded Mount Saint Mary College women's lacrosse team fell to third-seeded Farmingdale State College, 15-4, in a Skyline Conference quarterfinal on Tuesday. The Knights finish their inaugural season at 5-9.
Freshman
Sharon Cranwell (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) put the Mount on the board first with a goal at the 26:17 mark, but the lead would be short-lived. The Rams rattled off the next three goals, and despite a goal from junior
Ellen Cashin (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.), carried a 5-2 advantage to the half.
The teams traded goals to start the second half with Mount freshman
Kaileen Spadaro (Islip, N.Y.) tallying the goal for the Knights. From there, Farmingdale scored the next seven goals to put the game out of reach at 13-3. Sophomore
Kate Wynne (Franklin Square, N.Y.) added a late goal for the Mount to make the final score, 15-4.
