Mount Falls to Farmingdale in Skyline Quarters

NEWBURGH, N.Y. - Making a playoff appearance in their first year as a program, the sixth-seeded Mount Saint Mary College women's lacrosse team fell to third-seeded Farmingdale State College, 15-4, in a Skyline Conference quarterfinal on Tuesday.  The Knights finish their inaugural season at 5-9.

Freshman Sharon Cranwell (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) put the Mount on the board first with a goal at the 26:17 mark, but the lead would be short-lived.  The Rams rattled off the next three goals, and despite a goal from junior Ellen Cashin (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.), carried a 5-2 advantage to the half.

The teams traded goals to start the second half with Mount freshman Kaileen Spadaro (Islip, N.Y.) tallying the goal for the Knights.  From there, Farmingdale scored the next seven goals to put the game out of reach at 13-3.  Sophomore Kate Wynne (Franklin Square, N.Y.) added a late goal for the Mount to make the final score, 15-4.

Mount Saint Mary sophomore goalie Emily Folino (Staten Island, N.Y.) made nine saves in defeat.  Freshman Catherine Conde (Bloomingburg, N.Y.) was credited with a pair of assists.

Farmingdale advances to play second-seeded Ramapo in Thursday's semifinals.
