Knights Fall to the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Streaky Contest

BRONX, N.Y. - The College of Mount Saint Vincent ended Monday's game on a 10-1 run, defeating Mount Saint Mary College by a final score of 18-8.  The Dolphins improved to 6-6 overall, while the Knights dropped to 2-7.

The Knights sprinted out of the gates with the game's first two goals.  Freshmen Andrew Pullen (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and Nick Findlay (Elmont, N.Y.) staked the Mount to a 2-0 advantage with unassisted goals in the opening forty seconds of play.

Mount Saint Vincent roared back into the game, however, and ripped off the next seven tallies.  Sophomore Mike Visintin (Yonkers, N.Y.) scored three straight times during the run as the Dolphins seized a 7-2 lead.

Mount Saint Mary wouldn't go away just yet, and after trading goals to close the first quarter at 8-3, the Knights scored the first four goals of the second quarter to pull within one.  The Dolphins scored the final two goals of the first half and led 10-7 at the break.

n the second half, the Dolphins turned up the defense to only allow one Mount Saint Mary goal. Mount Saint Vincent outscored the visitors 3-0 in the third period and then 5-1 in the fourth to secure the win.

For the Knights, Pullen netted a team-high four goals on nine shots.  Senior Joe Costello (Geneva, N.Y.) added three goals, while Findlay chipped in with a goal and two assists.  Sophomore Zach Shaw (Dumont, N.J.) made 20 saves in defeat.

Visintin and junior Cavan Valance (Glen Cove, N.Y.) each scored three times for the host Dolphins.  Freshman Ahmed Ajao (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added two goals and three assists, while seniorg goalie Mike Nuzzi (Westbury, N.Y.) made sixteen saves to earn the victory.
