PLEASANTVILLE, NY – The Mount Saint Mary College men's swimming kicked off their dual meet season with a pair of wins on Thursday. The Blue Knights defeated Pace University, 57-36, and York College, 64-43. The women's team lost to Pace, 60-41, but defeated York, 64-44.
Both teams had individual event winners and posted several ECAC qualifying times. On the men's side, senior Tom DiLeo (Newburgh, N.Y.) was an individual event winner in the 1000 freestyle, posting an ECAC qualifying time of 11:10.88. Sophomore
Brian Heitman (Ramsey, N.J.) also qualified for the ECAC meet, winning the 100 freestyle in 54.14. Sophomore
Brian Carr (Linden, N.J.) and freshman Enrique Naudy (Monroe, N.Y.) were individual event winners in the 100 backstroke and the 200 individual medley, respectively.
On the women's side, senior
Laura Volk (West Islip, N.Y.) started off the meet with a victory in the 1000 freestyle (13:49.83) and then freshman
Meagan Conlon (Bellerose, N.Y.) captured the 100 butterfly in 1:06.66. Freshman
Christina Gulotta (Howell, N.J.) was under the ECAC mark in the 100 freestyle and the 200 freestyle while junior
Annie Parodi (Warwick, N.Y.) was under the cut in the 100 breaststroke.
The Mount Saint Mary College women will return to action this Saturday as they host Purchase College at 1:00 p.m. The men won't swim again until November 22 at King's College.
