Staten Island, NY- The Mount Saint Mary College Men's and Women's Track and Field teams closed out their indoor season at the Fasttrack Last Chance Invitational today on Staten Island. While the final meet didn't yield any team victories, the Knights saw individual brilliance shine through.
Records Shattered:
Highlighting the day was
Lily O'Brien's record-breaking performance in the women's triple jump. O'Brien soared to a distance of 10.03 meters, shattering the 12-year-old school record and securing an impressive 7th place finish.
Not to be outdone,
Christopher Christiano rewrote the record books in the men's 800m. He crossed the finish line in 2:00.78, shaving off valuable seconds from his previous school record and finishing in 26th place.
Individual Standouts:
Michael Gilespie also put in a strong showing for the men, placing 18th in the 60m dash with a time of 7.55 seconds and 58th in the 200m dash with a mark of 24.48 seconds.

Fred Callo expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance, saying, "Great way to wrap up the indoor season, so happy for Lily breaking the 12-year-old triple jump record, nice job by Chris shaving off his indoor 800m record. We now start focusing on the outdoor season."
The Knights will take a brief break before returning to action on March 23rd, kicking off their outdoor season at the meet hosted by Wesleyan University. With record-breaking indoor performances under their belts, the Mount Saint Mary College Track and Field team has exciting momentum heading into the outdoor campaign.
