Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary celebrated their senior class with a pre-game ceremony reflecting on what these student-athletes have accomplished as Knights. The women's soccer class of 2025 includes:
Alexa Centrone,
Victoria Maffettone,
Darla Petricca, and
Eliza Siade-Cox. The Mount Saint Mary Athletic Department congratulates this years senior class on everything they have accomplished in their careers.
Mount Saint Mary came out the best they have all season from the moment the opening whistle blew. The Knights didn't waste any time, scoring the first goal of the match less than three minutes in. Senior forward
Victoria Maffettone opened up the scoring for the Knights putting her third goal of the season in the back of the net. Mount Saint Mary continued to put shots on goal and kept the St. Joseph's goalkeeper very busy while it was an easy day at the office for the Knights goalkeepers. In the 22nd minute of the match,
Grace Morra placed a beautiful ball into the back of the net for the first of three goals she would score this afternoon. Not even 30 seconds later,
Lily Tanko would add another goal on the board for the Knights off of a great pass by
Darla Petricca. The Bears couldn't handle the pressure that the Knights were putting on them. As the first half was coming to a close, freshman
Angelina Robinson scored the first goal of her career to give the Knights a 4-0 lead after 45 minutes of play.
The Knights came out just as hot as they did to begin the match. They put multiple shots on net right away forcing St. Joseph's goalkeeper to make big saves quickly into the second half. The Knights added a 5th goal on the board when Morra finished her second goal of the match with an assist from
Genesis De Leon Portillo. Mount Saint Mary moved the ball nicely across the pitch connecting passes through the midfield. Portillo scored her second goal of the season off of an assist from Morra. Just a few minutes later Morra would score her third goal of the match completing her second hat trick of the season. Morra leads the teams in goals (9), assists (6), and points (24). But as the game was winding down senior defender
Alexa Centrone would get an opportunity that has been few and far between throughout her career. As a four-year starting defender, Centrone did not get many offensive chances throughout her time as a Knight. But Centrone would find the back of the net on senior day and be the final goal scorer for the Knights. After this big win, the Knights focus on their next match which is tomorrow afternoon against Hamilton College.
