Quick Turnaround Results in Women's Soccer Loss to Hamilton College

CLINTON, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team had a quick turnaround and lost against Hamilton College by a score of 8-1.

The Knights had a quick turnaround after a dominant win over St. Joseph's Brooklyn yesterday afternoon. Mount Saint Mary took the field against a strong squad from Hamilton College. Hamilton handled possession on their offensive end and scored the first goal of the match in the 11th minute. They were able to get by the Mounts defense two minutes later and capitalize on another opportunity to add to their lead. Mount Saint Mary struggled to control Hamilton's constant pressure. Hamilton added two more goals during the 20th and 21st minutes of the match. The Knights were able to connect passes in the midfield to generate some offensive chances. Junior Kaitlin Hansen was able to score the Knight's only goal of the match off of a pass from Grace Morra. Both teams wouldn't be able to take advantage of any more opportunities for the rest of the first half.

The Knights were caught flat coming out of halftime when Hamilton came down the field after the opening kickoff and scored their 5th goal of the game. Mount Saint Mary was able to settle down a bit and connect passes through their defense up to their forwards, but this wasn't enough to keep Hamilton from putting on the pressure. Hamilton notched another goal during the 54th minute of the match to extend their lead 6-1. A few moments later, Hamilton was awarded and capitalized on a penalty kick that added another score to the board. The Knights continued to fight and attempted to put some shots on goal but couldn't find success. Hamilton was able to sneak in another goal during the final minute of the match. The Knights focus on what's next as they travel to St. Joseph's Long Island next Saturday and take on the Golden Eagles at 3 pm.
