Rapid Recap
The Knights traveled down to Long Island for a highly anticipated Skyline Conference matchup against the Golden Eagles from Saint Joseph's Long Island. A potential playoff spot was what each of these teams had their eyes on. From the start both teams came out on fire. 13 minutes into the match, Mount Saint Mary scored the first goal of the game. Victoria Maffettone capitalized on the goal for the Knights, ripping one right over the keeper's head. The game continued to go back and forth with both teams trading shots on goal. Graduate goalkeeper Christina Kakavas, who is the reigning Skyline Conference Defensive Player of the Week, would be a huge asset for the Knights in the first half. Kakavas made some big stops to allow the Knights to lead by one after 45 minutes of play.

The battle kept going well into the second half. The Golden Eagles were able to settle down quickly and tied the match up in the first five minutes of play. St Joseph's kept up the strong offensive pressure and took the lead a few minutes later to go up 2-1. The Knights had trouble getting shots on goal during the second half as they played into the wind and had to lean more on their backline. St. Joseph's scored their third goal of the match during the 78th minute, but after the kickoff, the Knights came down and scored their second goal of the match to be within one from the Eagles. Kaitlin Hansen converted on a pass from Faith Welsh to give the team some life. As the game winded down the Knights just couldn't get any offensive chances in an attempt to tie the game. They ultimately fell to St. Joseph's Long Island 3-2. The Knights play their final home game on Tuesday night as they take on SUNY Maritime College at 7 PM.
