Women’s Volleyball Hosts College Of Mount Saint Vincent In First Round Of Skyline Conference Championship

Knights, Dolphins square-off at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team opens play in the 2021 Skyline Conference Championship on Tuesday night when it welcomes the College of Mount Saint Vincent to the Kaplan Center. At A Glance: The Knights dropped three non-conference matches to close the regular season and enter Tuesday's First Round as the fourth seed with a 14-14 overall record. The Knights won seven of their 11 conference matches in 2021, including the last five conference decisions.
 
Grace Riddle (Wantagh, N.Y.) paces the offensive attack for the Mount with 432 kills on the season, sitting just 18 shy of matching the single season record of 450 set in 2007. Riddle averages 4.28 kills per set while hitting .234 on the season. Riddle enters the Championship first in the conference in overall kills and kills per set.
 
Riddle also ranks second on the team with 71 service aces, 315 digs and 25 total blocks. Riddle ranks second in the Skyline Conference in total aces and 13th in the league in digs per set.
 
Freshman Jackie Wolf (Kings Park, N.Y.) is the team leader in service aces with 82 and ranks second on the squad with 236 kills, averaging better than two winners per set. Wolf sits third on the team in digs with 272, lifting just shy of three per set. Wolf enters Tuesday's match as the Skyline Conference leader in overall aces and aces per set.
 
Renee Hydo (Bethpage, N.Y.) rounds out a trio of Knights with at least 100 kills on the season with 103 and ranks second on the team with 94 assists. Hydo has lifted 251 digs for the Knights and posted 13 total blocks.
 
Fran Cammarata (Carmel, N.Y.) is the team leader in assists with 706, handing out just under eight helpers per set. Cammarata chips in 28 service aces and 218 digs for the Knights. Haley Houghton (Bellerose, N.Y.) sits atop the team leader board in total blocks with 28.
 
Scouting The Dolphins: The Dolphins won five of their last six regular season matches and come to town on Tuesday with a 15-11 overall record.
 
Mount Saint Vincent features six players with at least 100 kills on the year, led by 200 from Samantha Schroeder who also ranks second on the team with 35 service aces and 253 digs.
 
Rianna Rivera is the team leader with 67 total blocks and enters Tuesday's contest second on the team with 177 winners. Rivera is the Skyline Conference leader in total blocks and blocks per set.
 
Madison Gale paces the Dolphins in three categories, posting team-highs in aces with 44, digs with 258 and assists with 613. Gale averages just shy of seven assists per set, good for fifth in the Skyline Conference.
 
Regular Season Matchup: The Knights rallied from a two-set deficit on September 18 to score a five set victory in Riverdale.
 
The Knights posted a 15-7 advantage in service aces in the match, led by seven from Wolf who also chipped in nine kills and 11 digs. Riddle put away 25 kills to lead the Mount, hitting .392 in the win, to go along with a team-high 17 digs. Cammarata handed out 33 assists for the Mount and contributed eight digs.
 
The Dolphins were led by 12 kills from Schroeder with Gale closing out a double-double with 33 assists and 12 digs. Rivera finished off the match with seven kills and three total blocks.
 
Recent History: Since the start of the 2007 season, the Knights and Dolphins have met 19 times with Mount Saint Mary holding a 12-7 record. The two sides have split the last four meetings with the 2021 victory for the Knights stopping a two-match skid.
 
Recent Skyline Championship History: 2021 marks the 14th straight season the Knights have qualified for the Skyline Conference Championship. The Mount won the 2012 conference crown and returned to the Championship Final in both 2014 and 2015.
 
What's At Stake: The winner of Tuesday's match will move on to the Semifinal Round and head to the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Thursday.
