Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team begins an important stretch on Tuesday when it starts at four-match week at Sarah Lawrence. The Knights continue conference play on Thursday with a home match against St. Joseph's-Brooklyn before stepping out of conference on Saturday taking on Hunter and Montclair State at Hunter. At A Glance: The Mount looks to stop a four-match losing streak on Tuesday when it heads to Sarah Lawrence. The Knights enter the week with an 8-9 overall record and a 2-4 mark against Skyline Conference rivals, dropping each of their last three conference matches in four sets.
Grace Riddle (Wantagh, N.Y.) is in the midst of a strong season, posting 271 kills, good for 4.37 per set, while hitting .233. She also adds 205 digs, 38 service aces and 17 total blocks. Riddle has reached double-figures in kills in each of the last 13 matches and has posted nine double-doubles on the season.
Jackie Wolf (Kings Park, N.Y.) leads the Knights with 58 service aces heading into Tuesday and supports the offense with 138 kills. Wolf adds 173 digs for the Knights to go along with eight total blocks.
Fran Cammarata (Carmel, N.Y.) has handed out 465 assists to date for the Knights, good for 7.38 per set, while adding 17 aces and 151 digs.
Haley Houghton (Bellerose, N.Y.) paces the Mount with 24 total blocks, while
Alyssa Barbara (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) leads the way with 261 digs, averaging 4.35 per frame.
Conference Leaderboard: Heading into the new week, Riddle leads the Skyline Conference in kills per set (4.37) while sitting eighth in digs per frame (3.31) and ninth in attack percentage (.233).
Barbara ranks third in the conference in digs per set (4.35), while Cammarata sits second in assists per stanza for the Knights (7.38).
Scouting Sarah Lawrence: The Gryphons enter Tuesday's tilt at 8-9 overall, but with an unblemished 5-0 mark against Skyline Conference rivals. Sarah Lawrence has won five of its last six outings, but is coming off a 3-1 loss to Pratt on Saturday.
Georgi Massey leads three players with at least 90 kills on the season with a team-high 119 and is adding 24 service aces and 107 digs. Kaille Ferguson stands at 111 kills to date to go along with 31 assists and a team-high 218 digs.
Mia Rector holds the team lead with 32 service aces and has handed out 328 assists for the Gryphons, while Claire Mitchell sits atop the team leaderboard with 23 total blocks.
Previewing St. Joseph's-Brooklyn: The Bears enter a Tuesday match with Farmingdale State with a 4-4 overall record and a 2-2 mark against conference rivals. St. Joseph's has split its last four matches overall, including a 3-0 loss to USMMA in its last outing.
Martina Urgo holds the team lead with 76 kills, adding 103 digs and 22 service aces. Kaitlyn Intindola sets the team standard with 25 aces and assists with 203, while Carol Melo has lifted a team-high 126 digs, averaging nearly four digs per set.
A Look At Hunter: The Hawks enter a non-conference match with Ramapo on Tuesday with a 7-8 overall record, but a perfect 4-0 mark against CUNYAC rivals. Hunter has won its last five, including a clean sweep of a weekend conference tournament and a 3-1 win over St. Joseph's-L.I.
Alexa Sayson begins the week with a team-high 109 kills, adding 117 digs and 26 service aces. Mariam Ouattara sits atop the team leaderboard with 28 aces and has controlled the net with 44 total blocks. Justine Smith has handed out 323 assists with Erin Hyman pacing the team with 226 digs.
Monitoring Montclair State: The Red Hawks will take on conference rivals Stockton (Tuesday) and William Paterson (Thursday) before the weekend tri-match and begin the week at 12-7 overall and 4-1 in NJAC play. Montclair State is on an eight-match winning streak and has not dropped a match since five set loss to Rowan on September 21.
Carly Waterman leads the offensive attack with 210 kills and adds a team-high 36 service aces. Waterman has lifted 209 digs for the Red Hawks and posted 20 total blocks.
Leah Higgins has put away 139 kills for Montclair State and added 25 total blocks, while Katelyn Monaghan has lifted 325 digs, good for just under five per set. Gianna Arias enters the week with the team lead in total blocks with 51 and is one of seven different players with at least 11 blocks on the season.
Recent History: Since 2007, Mount Saint Mary is a perfect 8-0 against Sarah Lawrence and has dropped just three sets to the Gryphons. The Knights are also unbeaten against St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, winning each of the five matchups since 2015, and surrendering just one set.
What's Next: Following Saturday's non-conference tri-match the Mount will travel to conference rival Yeshiva on Tuesday before hosting league foes Old Westbury (Wednesday) and Maritime (Saturday) as part of a tri-match with Pratt.
