Mount Saint Mary Continues Conference Play Against Maritime, Farmingdale State

Knights look for fifth home win on Wednesday night

Newburgh, N.Y. – Coming off its first conference loss of the season on Saturday, the Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team continues the league slate on Wednesday with a home game against Maritime before traveling to Farmingdale State on Saturday.
 
At A Glance: The Mount enters Wednesday's tilt winners of three of their last four contests and with a 6-6-0 overall record and a 4-1-0 mark in league play. The Knights had a three game run stopped on Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 double overtime loss at Old Westbury.
 
Junior Joey Dolan (New Paltz, N.Y.), who has scored the team's last eight goals, paces the offense for the Knights with 12 markers and 25 points. He is the only player for the Knights with more than two tallies, with Matt Fuge (Avon, Conn.) and Joseph Sadofsky (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) tied for second on the team with a pair of markers each.
 
Dolan leads the Skyline Conference in game winning goals and ranks second in the league in both total goals and points.
 
Juniors Fred Stark (Hollis, N.Y.) and Connor Lynch (Clifton Park, N.Y.) are tied for the team lead in assists with three with Stark joining Fuge and Sadofsky with five points on the season.
 
In goal, the Mount is led by 36 saves from Jakup Myrtja (Newburgh, N.Y.) who adds a 1.93 goals against average and a .735 save percentage in eight starts. Tyler Rapp (East Berne, N.Y.) has started four contests for the Mount and holds a 1.23 goals against average and a .739 save percentage, while making 17 stops.
 
Last Time Out: The Mount suffered its first league loss of the season on Saturday with a 2-1 defeat in double overtime at Old Westbury. Dolan scored the team's lone goal to tie the score at 1-1 late in the second half, before Jorey Garcia found the game winner for the Panthers early in the second overtime period.
 
Previewing the Privateers: Maritime heads to Newburgh sporting a 10-2-1 overall record and a 4-1-0 mark in league play and has  won its last four outings. Maritime's latest win came in a 4-2 home triumph over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon.
 
Parker Gallt scored a pair of goals for Maritime in the win and leads the team with 14 on the season. He has added six assists for 34 points through the team's first 13 games of the season. Gallt and Anthony Palazzolo are tied for the team lead in helpers and the duo are two of six players with at least 10 points on the season for the Privateers.
 
Gallt sits atop the Skyline Conference leaderboard in each offensive category, pacing the league in goals, assists and points.
 
In goal, Michael Rodriguez has played 1,123:23 of a possible 1,200:45 and holds a 1.36 goals against average and a .770 save percentage. Rodriguez ranks third in the conference in total saves (57) and save percentage and sits fourth in goals against average.
 
Scouting Farmingdale State: The Rams enter a Wednesday conference game at Sarah Lawrence at 5-4 overall and 2-3 in league play. Farmingdale State has won three of its last four outings, with the lone blemish coming in a 2-0 loss to Maritime on October 3.
 
The Rams, who are outscoring their opponents 20-11, are led by four goals and 10 points from Carlos Rivera. Gerard Farrell and Christian Campos are tied for the team lead in assists with three, with Farrell adding three markers.
 
Daniel Stern has seen the bulk of time in goal for Farmingdale State, playing 630:00 of a possible 810:00 on the season. He holds a 1.14 goals against average and a .778 save percentage, making 28 stops on the year.
 
What's Next: The Mount continues alternating home and road contests over the final three games of the regular season when it hosts Amherst on October 18, travels to St. Joseph's-L.I. on October 21 and closes the regular season at home against Purchase on October 25.
