Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team will put its five game winning streak on the line Friday night at home against Farmingdale State and will continue an important conference weekend on Sunday afternoon when it travels to St. Joseph's-Brooklyn. Joey Dolan (New Paltz, N.Y.) scored his team leading sixth goal of the season.
Dolan was one of three different goal scorers in the game, with
Jonathan Schefer (Greenlawn, N.Y.) potting the game winner and freshman
Joe Bacalhau (Woodbridge, N.J.) scoring his second goal of the season. Junior
Eric Hayes (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) recorded his team leading fourth assist of the season on the game winner.
Senior
Tyler Biscone (Garden City, N.Y.) posted his third shutout of the season in the win, making four saves in the contest.
The Knights have nine different players with a goal heading into Friday's game, with Dolan leading the pack with six tallies, leading to a team-high 15 points. Classmate
Bereket Watts (Southold, N.Y.) has 10 points on the season on the strength of four goals and a pair of assists.
The Mount also has four players with at least two assists on the season, led by Hayes. Senior
Mike Zanfardino (Saint James, N.Y.) has helped and Dolan have each helped on three tallies in 2016.
Biscone has earned each of the Knights' six wins in goals and has played 950 of a possible 990 between the pipes. He has stopped 37 opponent shots and holds a 1.55 goals against average.
Scouting Farmingdale State: The Rams come to town on Friday with an identical 5-0 conference record as the Knights, joining the Mount as the only other team in the league without a loss. Farmingdale State is 6-4 overall on the season and has also won five straight. Farmingdale State picked up a 3-1 win over Sarah Lawrence in its last outing with Richard Mastrangelo, Carlos Rivera and Jovanni Parkinson all scoring goals.
Rivera paces the Rams' scoring attack through 10 games, leading the way with four goals and eight points. Flynn Shanahan has helped on a pair of goals to lead the Rams in the assist category.
In goal, Jeff Valencia and Lucas Mallia have split time over the first 10 games. Valencia has played 508 minutes in goal and has made 21 saves, while Mallia has played 423 minutes and leads the team with 31 stops, a .861 save percentage and a 1.06 goals against average.
A Look At St. Joseph's: After going 0-13-2 overall and 0-9-1 in league play during the 2015 season, the Bears have put together a 5-6 overall record and a 3-2 Skyline Conference mark heading into a Friday contest with St. Joseph's-L.I. St. Joseph's has won its last two outings heading into Friday, including a 1-0 road win at Sage on October 1. Beka Goduadze scored the game winner in the 58
th minutes and Julian Rodriguez earned the shutout in goal with 12 saves in the game.
Goduadze leads the team through 11 games in scoring with seven goals, including three game winning tallies, and 17 points. Cesar Oviedo is the top distributor with four assists for the Bears to go along with two goals for eight points.
Rodriguez has been the majority of time in net for St. Joseph's, playing 836 minutes coming into the weekend. He leads the team with 73 saves and a .760 save percentage.
