Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team will return to action this evening when it travels to 2015 Skyline Conference Champion the College of Mount Saint Vincent. Live Stats and Video will be available for those who cannot attend the 6:00 p.m. match in Riverdale.
At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary has split its last six matches and is coming off a 3-1 loss at Sage and a sweep of Old Westbury to move its record to 13-16, including a 5-3 mark against league rivals.
Angelia Cirigliano (Newburgh, N.Y.) paced the Mount with 12 kills against the Gators on Saturday, while
Megan Williams (Glenmont, N.Y.) posted eight blocks and
Kristen Maddock (Medford, N.Y.) handed out 30 assists. In the win over Old Westbury,
Ally Klesin (Glendale, N.Y.) put away a career-high 10 kills, with
Kim Gries (Hicksville, N.Y.) recording 21 assists.
Heading into Monday's match with the Dolphins,
Rachel Sabatini (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) is one of four Knights with at least 100 kills on the season, leading the team with 210 winners. Maddock paces the team in assists with 504, averaging better than six per set, and service aces with 46, while
Madelyn Barberan (Fishkill, N.Y.) has lifted a team-high 321 digs. Freshman
Morgan Burke (Ringwood, N.J.) leads the team with 71 total blocks heading into Monday's tilt. Cirigliano ranks second on the team heading into the match with the Dolphins in kills (162), service aces (35) and digs (233).
A Look At The Dolphins: Mount Saint Vincent is coming off a 3-0 loss to USMMA on Saturday and enters Monday's clash with a 10-16 overall and 6-2 in conference play. Tara Maloney led the Dolphins with 13 of the team's 22 kills in the match against the Mariners, joining Patsy Sewell with a team-high eight digs. Nicole Henderson closed the contest with 14 assists, six digs and four aces for Mount Saint Vincent.
Heading into Monday's match, Maloney leads the Dolphins and the Skyline Conference in kills with 349, averaging 4.31 winners per set. Patsy Sewell leads the team with 39 service aces, while sister Chrissy paces the squad in digs with 334, averaging 4.28 per set. Henderson is averaging just shy of seven assists per frame and has totaled 508 on the season, while Jacqui Johnston has recorded a team-high 27 total blocks.
Recent History: Since the start of the 2007 season, Mount Saint Mary holds a 9-3 overall record against the Dolphins, including a 2-1 mark in the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament. Two of the Knights' three loss since 2007 against Mount Saint Vincent came in 2015 when the Knights were swept at home 3-0 in the regular season and dropped a four set decision in Riverdale in the 2015 Skyline Conference Championship match.
