Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

MAHWAH, N.J. – The Mount Saint Mary College softball team (18-10) lost both ends of a doubleheader at Ramapo College (11-12) after the Roadrunners scored late in both games to sweep the Knights. Ramapo won game one, 3-1, after breaking a 1-1 tie with a pair of runs in the sixth. They took game two in extra innings, 2-1, by walking off in the bottom of the eighth.

The Knights were two-hit by Harley Masiello in game one, as the Roadrunners' starter struck out four batters in the complete-game victory. Senior starter Amanda Barrese (Staten Island, N.Y.) had a quality start, allowing three runs in six innings of work, but suffered her sixth loss of the season.

Jaclyn Lima and Kim LaPenta each scored and knocked in a run for the Roadrunners in game one. Danielle Saporito plated the third in a 1-for-3 effort.

Sophomore first baseman Kate Zubicki (Kearny, N.J.) and sophomore right fielder Brianne Germain (Greenwood Lake, N.Y.) picked up the only two hits for the Knights. Germain scored the lone run on an RBI groundout by freshman shortstop Breanna DePasquale (Brooklyn, N.Y.).

Ramapo got on the board first in game two when LaPenta singled to center in the bottom of the third. The Knights quickly tied the game when junior catcher Stephanie Karcher (Oxford, Conn.) scored on a fielding error in the top of the fourth.

The Knights experienced their first extra-inning game of the season after the seventh ended with a 1-1 tie. The Knights were unable to score in their at bat in the eighth. The Roadrunners scored on the first batter of the eighth when a fielding error brought the automatic runner on second in to score for the walk-off win.

Nicole Schneider picked up the win for Ramapo in Thursday's finale, tossing all eight innings and allowing just one run. Sophomore pitcher Victoria Goldbach (Middle Village, N.Y.) suffered her third loss of the year, allowing one run (unearned) in 4.2 innings of relief work.

Saporito went 2-for-3 for Ramapo, while LaPenta picked up the only RBI for the Roadrunners in a 1-for-4 outing.

Freshman second baseman Shannon Sommer (Brewster, N.Y.) went 3-for-4 to lead the Knights in game two. Zubicki went 1-for-3 with a double, while sophomore center fielder Sabrina Gordek (Levittown, N.Y.) laid down three successful sacrifice bunts.

The Knights return to action on Saturday, April 12, when they host St. Joseph's College (L.I.) in a Skyline Conference doubleheader at the Mount. Game one is set to begin at 1 p.m. Senior Day will be celebrated Saturday prior to first pitch.
