NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College softball team secured the three seed in the Skyline Conference Playoffs after sweeping St. Joseph's Long Island.

Mount Saint Mary had a chance to clinch a top-three seed in the Skyline Conference Playoffs against St. Joseph's Long Island. The Knights would score first in the bottom half of the 1st inning, starting with an RBI double from
Samantha Stallone, who extends her hit streak to seven games now.
Grace Reich would single to right field to score yet another run as the Mount found themselves up 3-0. The Knights continued to dominate in all facets of the game, scoring eight runs in the 2nd inning, with RBI hits from
Samantha Stallone,
Allie Kenney,
Angela Christopher, and
Autumn Strobach to put the team up 11-0.
Grace MacDonald also dominated on the mound, striking out five batters and not allowing a single run through five innings.
Samantha Stallone would record her fourth RBI of the game in the bottom of the 3rd with an RBI single to left center field to put the Knights up 12-0. Long Island managed to load the bases in the top of the 5th, but
Grace MacDonald would get herself out of a jam with a three-pitch strikeout, as Mount Saint Mary defeated St. Joe's 12-0 in five innings in game one.

The Knights looked to not only sweep the Golden Eagles but also head into the playoffs with a four-game win streak. Long Island was able to get a run in the top of the 1st after not scoring at all in game one, but the Mount was able to respond with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. An error allowed
Autumn Strobach to score from second, then a solid ground ball from
Grace Terpening would score
Chloe Graham to make it 2-1. The Knights continued their scoring in the 2nd inning with three more runs to extend their lead.
Allie Kenney and
Angela Christopher led off the inning with back-to-back singles, then an error allowed Kenney to score. A single to center field from
Grace Terpening scored two runs to put the Mount up 5-1.
A two-run home run in the 3rd inning from St. Joe's put them right back into the game and gave them some hope. In the bottom half of the inning,
Autumn Strobach singled to right-center field to score another run, making it 6-3 MSMC. The Mount scored a run in every inning of this game, including three off errors, to take advantage of the Golden Eagles' mistakes. Mount Saint Mary would walk it off in the bottom of the 5th with four runs for a mercy rule, thanks to RBI hits from
Grace MacDonald,
Grace Reich, and
Allie Kenney to defeat St. Joseph's Long Island 11-3.
