Game 2
The Basics
Score: Mount Saint Mary College 3, Manhattanville 9
Records: Mount Saint Mary College (13-17, 9-5 Skyline) | Manhattanville (29-7, 16-0)
Rapid Recap
The Knights looked to pick things up offensively in game two, starting off the top of the 1st by getting two runners on with no outs. They would be unable to advance the runners and score, as Manhattanville would end up with a run in the bottom half of the inning off an error. The Knights' offense was able to find some improvement in game two, but so did the Valiants. Manhattanville was able to score another three runs the following inning to extend their lead to 4-0.
Autumn Strobach led off the 3rd inning with a single, then an error allowed
Dana Donnelly to reach base.
Chloe Graham would take advantage by blasting a three-run shot to right-center field, putting the Knights right back into the game.
This would unfortunately be the closest the Mount would get, as the Valiants scored runs in each of the first four innings, giving them an 8-3 lead heading into the 5th. The Knights did a much better job at the plate in game two, recording five hits and managing to show better plate discipline, drawing five walks. An RBI double to right field added an insurance run to Manhattanville's lead in the 6th inning as they would also come away with game two, beating Mount Saint Mary 9-3.
