RANDALLS ISLAND, N.Y. - Following a tight 7-5 win in game one, Mount Saint Mary College pounded out 16 hits in game two on its way to a 15-2 victory and a sweep of John Jay College of Criminal Justice on Tuesday. The Knights improve to 13-9 overall, while the Bloodhounds drop to 5-8-1.
The Mount raced out to a 5-0 lead in game one, but gave up five runs in the bottom half of the fourth. Sophomore
Stephanie Karcher (Oxford, Conn.) put the Knights back on top with a solo home run in the fifth, her ninth round-tripper of the year. Following a scoreless sixth, Mount freshman
Kate Zubicki (Kearny, N.J.) drove home an insurance run with a single to left field.

Caitlin Maynes (Miller Place, N.Y.) worked around an error in the bottom of the seventh and induced a game-ending double play to earn the victory. Maynes went the distance, allowing eight hits and just one earned run while striking out eight. Karcher finished 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs, while Zubicki went 2-for-4 with the one RBI. Freshman

Brianne Germain (Greenwood Lake, N.Y.) went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
In game two, the Knights jumped out to a 5-0 lead once again, but this time, took complete control of the contest with 10 runs in the third inning. Senior
Ashley Schirripa (Staten Island, N.Y.), Karcher, and Zubicki each contributed two-run singles during the long rally.
Each player in the Mount lineup recorded a hit, including a 2-for-2 performance from Schirripa that included three runs scored and four RBIs. Karcher went 2-for-2 with two runs and three RBIs, while Zubicki finished 2-for-2 with a run scored and four RBIs. Sophomore

The Knights continue non-conference play on Thursday with a trip to play Hunter College. The double-header is set for a 3:00 p.m. start on Randalls Island.
