NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Mount Saint Mary College broke up a five-game losing streak with a pair of victories over the College of New Rochelle on Friday afternoon. The Knights (16-14) won the opener, 11-0, and the second game, 8-0, both in five innings.
Senior pitcher
Caitlin Maynes (Miller Place, N.Y.) tossed a no-hitter in game one and faced the minimum. The lone baserunner, who reached via error, was caught stealing. Maynes struck out six.
Freshman
Kimberly Boice (Kingston, N.Y.) went 1-for-3 with a run scored and a pair of RBIs, while sophomore
Danielle Soto (Miller Place, N.Y.) went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI. Junior
Ashley Peel (Shelton, Conn.) reached base during all three plate appearances and scored three times.
In game two, junior
Amanda Barrese (Staten Island, N.Y.) and freshman
Victoria Goldbach (Middle Village, N.Y.) combined on a four-hit shutout. Barrese allowed four hits and struck out two over three innings, while Goldbach pitched a perfect two innings and struck out five.

Brianne Germain (Greenwood Lake, N.Y.) paced the Knights with a 3-for-4 performance that included a run and an RBI. Senior
Victoria DeMarco (Hicksville, N.Y.) went 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs.
The Knights face a critical weekend of Skyline Conference play. The Mount travels to St. Joseph's College for a double-header on Saturday and will host Sage in a double-header on Sunday. The Knights will need to win three of four games over the weekend to have a chance at qualifying for the postseason tournament.
