TROY, N.Y. - After winning the opener, 6-4, the Mount Saint Mary College softball team managed just one hit in game two and was defeated, 7-0, in Skyline Conference action at Sage on Thursday. The Knights are now 10-14 overall and 5-3 inside the conference.
MSMC won the opener on the strength of four runs in the second inning. Senior
Danielle Orender (Wall, N.J.) drove home the second run of the inning with a single and senior
Lacey Kehlenbeck (Port Jervis, N.Y.) followed with a run-scoring groundout. Freshman
Danielle Soto (Miller Place, N.Y.) completed the inning with an RBI double to give the Knights a 4-0 advantage.
The Mount added one more in the third on an RBI single from junior
Ashley Schirripa (Staten Island, N.Y.), who went on to finish the game 2-for-3. In the seventh, the Knights tacked on an insurance run when freshman
Stephanie Karcher (Oxford, Conn.) scored on a wild pitch.

Caitlin Maynes (Miller Place, N.Y.) went the distance in the cirlce, allowing seven hits and two earned runs.
Sage jumped out to an early lead with four runs in the first inning of game two. Sophomore
Chelsea Hepburn (New York, N.Y.) came up with the only hit of the game for the Knights and Sage piled on three more runs in the sixth to claim a 7-0 victory.
Up next for the Knights is a road trip to the Polytechnic Institute of NYU. The games are set for a noon start on Saturday, April 14 in Brooklyn, New York.
