NEW YORK, N.Y. - Mount Saint Mary College lost a non-conference women's volleyball match on Thursday to Hunter College, three sets to one (25-11, 25-14, 23-25, 25-20). The loss breaks up a five-match winning streak for the Knights (14-8).
Hunter jumped out to a fast start, taking the opening two sets before the Mount could really get going. The Knights held on for a narrow victory in the third set, but couldn't carry the momentum over to the fourth.
Senior
Mary Ann Raftery (Atlantic Beach, N.Y.) led the Knights with nine kills, but also committed six errors. Fellow senior
Katharine Tischer (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) was next with eight kills, while sophomore
Natalie Candarelli (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) finished with seven kills. Senior
Lauren Halverson (Patchogue, N.Y.) tallied 25 assists and 17 digs, both team-highs.
The Knights head to Cazenovia College for more non-conference play this Saturday. They'll take on Oswego State at 1:00 p.m. and Cazenovia at 3:00 p.m.
