NEWBURGH, NY – The Mount Saint Mary College women's volleyball team split a pair of Skyline Conference matches on Saturday, defeating Purchase College in straight sets (25-7, 28-26, 27-25) and losing to Farmingdale State in College in five sets (22-25, 19-25, 25-19, 25-8, 11-15). The Blue Knights are now 16-13 overall and 4-4 in conference.
Against Purchase, junior
Elizabeth Douress (Rahway, N.J.) finished with a team high 8 kills on just 16 attempts and also had 3 aces and 2 blocks. Sophomores
Teresa Sorrentino (Bellrose, N.Y.) and
Courtney Kenney (Hicksville, N.Y.) had 7 kills each, as did freshman
Katharine Tischer (Port Jefferson, N.Y.). Senior
Katie Toole (Wallkill, N.Y.) totaled 30 assists.
Douress continued her strong play in the match with Farmingdale, tallying 16 kills on 42 attempts. Kenney also finished with 16 kills and added in 4 aces. Sophomore
Heather Schaeffer (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) picked up 26 digs while freshman
Lauren Halverson (Patchogue, N.Y.) finished with 23 digs. Toole racked up 39 aces.
Mount Saint Mary closes out their Skyline Conference regular season on Wednesday, October 28. The Blue Knights will host Maritime at 7:00 p.m. inside the Kaplan Center.
