NEWBURGH, NY – With their home opener finally occurring nearly a month after the start of their season, the Mount Saint Mary College women's volleyball team opened their Kaplan Center schedule in style, defeating the College of Staten Island, three sets to none. The Blue Knights were tested in the second game but still prevailed 25-17, 25-23, 25-17.

Freshman Teresa Sorrentino (Bellerose, N.Y.) had a big match for the Mount, recording 7 kills, 14 digs, and 8 aces. Freshman Courtney Kenney (Hicksville, N.Y.) also had a nice day, finishing with 10 kills, 8 digs, and 3 aces. Sophomore Liz Douress (Rahway, N.J.) had five kills, as did freshman Jackie Nadeau (Uniondale, N.Y.).

For the visiting Dolphins, junior Alba Basha (Albania) recorded 3 kills, 6 aces, and 24 digs. Sophomore Joanna Tepedino (Staten Island, N.Y.) had a team-high 7 kills.

The Blue Knights head back into Skyline Conference play this week and will host Bard College on Tuesday, September 30 at 7:00 p.m.
