Mount Saint Mary finally had their home opener after 20 straight games away from Newburgh. The Knights hosted SUNY New Paltz, with freshman
Nick Parco getting the start today for the Mount. Parco was solid, throwing 3.0 innings without allowing a single earned run. New Paltz would be the first team to score in the top of the 2nd inning after an error allowed the runner to score from second base. The Knights would even things up in the bottom half of the 3rd, starting with a two-out single from
Axel Martinez. A failed pick-off attempt led to an error, allowing Martinez to reach second base and get into scoring position.
Noah Anderson hit an RBI single to center field to tie it up 1-1.
In the 5th inning, the Hawks were able to score three runs off of mental errors from the Knights. Two balks and a wild pitch scored all three runs for New Paltz in the inning, giving them a 4-1 lead. Mount Saint Mary was unable to get anything going in the next two innings, and with the rain picking up, they decided to call the game after six innings with New Paltz getting the 4-1 victory.
