Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary College hoped to rebound against New Paltz at home after their loss over the weekend. The Knights did not have the best start, conceding the first four goals of the game in the opening quarter, all while being shut out in the first 15 minutes.
Kenny Leen was his usual self, stopping 18 shots for the second consecutive game. The Hawks added to their lead early in the second quarter to make it 5-0. The Knights battled back, starting with fogo
Joseph Corallo winning a faceoff, then taking it the distance to get Mount Saint Mary on the board. Corallo was on fire this game, winning 19 of his 26 faceoffs and recording 13 ground balls to go along with his goal.
Henry Micyk and
Devin Lanzer added two more goals for the Knights as they trailed 6-3 entering the half.
With the Mount down 7-3 in the third quarter, they needed someone to step up on offense.
Tyler Mackay, who already had an assist on the game, kick-started the offense himself with back-to-back goals to cut their deficit to 7-5. However, New Paltz would respond with two goals of their own to make it 9-5. The Knights had a man-up opportunity after a trip on the faceoff, but were unable to score. Things would begin to go south in the fourth quarter, as the Hawks added seven more goals to their run in the period, making it nine unanswered goals in a row.
Devin Lanzer would stop the bleeding with a man-down goal, but it was ultimately too late as Mount Saint Mary fell 16-6 to New Paltz.
