YAPANK, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College baseball team split its Skyline opening series with Old Westbury.

Game 1
The Basics

Score: Mount Saint Mary College 1, Old Westbury 3
Records: Mount Saint Mary College (3-9, 0-1 Skyline) | Old Westbury (5-2, 1-0)

Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary opened up Skyline Conference play on the road as they took on SUNY Old Westbury. The Knights didn't get off to the best start, grounding into a double play in the top of the 1st, then allowing a run in the bottom half of the inning. Peter Pappalardo got the ball on the bump for the Mount, taking a few batters to get settled in. Pappalardo walked two batters in the bottom of the 2nd, but got himself out of the jam with his signature pick off at first base.

Kaleb Morgan would tie things up 1-1 in the top of the 4th with a solo homer, his 4th long shot of the season in just 12 games. It wouldn't be long before the Panthers took the lead right back in the bottom of the inning. A walk followed by a 2-run home run put Old Westbury back up 3-1. The Knights got something going in the top of the 6th with a lead-off single from Noah Anderson, then a walk drawn by Aidan Marshall. Kaleb Morgan advanced both runners over to second and third with just one out. The Mount could not take advantage, as they would fall in game one to the Panthers 3-1 in 7 innings.

Rapid Recap
Heading into game two, the Knights have scored just one run in each of their last three games. The Mount was going to have to get their bats going if they were going to win this one, and they did just that. Michael Pisseri would get the start, striking out the first batter he faced, as part of his career-high nine-strikeout performance. Richard Lamping took a beating this game, being hit by a pitch on 3 of his 5 at-bats. Nico Simou would double to put him and Lamping in scoring position with a double, as Simou went a perfect 4 for 4 with two doubles in this one. Gregory Harrison and Elijah Duprey both recorded RBIs, with Harrison scoring a career-best five runners in this game.

Kaleb Morgan would start a two-out rally in the top of the 3rd, leading to three more runs for the Knights off RBI singles from Simou and Harrison to take a 5-0 lead. Pisseri continued to deal, allowing just one earned run in the bottom of the 4th, getting himself out of a bases-loaded jam with three strikeouts. Mount Saint Mary added another three runs to extend their lead to 8-1, after a two-RBI single from Christian Parisa. The Knights took hold of this game with a dagger in the 7th inning, scoring seven runs to take a commanding 15-1 lead. Mount Saint Mary would come away with a 15-2 victory in 7 innings to get its first Skyline win this season.
