Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary College looked to rebound after a tough loss to Farmingdale on Saturday. The Knights would take on Merchant Marine on the road for the second seed in the Skyline. From the jump, the Mariners would dominate, scoring the first 10 points of the game and forcing a Mount Saint Mary timeout. Reigning Skyline Rookie of the Week, Gabby Ziegenbalg, would check in and knock down 2 quick threes to give the Knights some offense, but Merchant Marine would still lead 20-13 after the first quarter.

The Mount struggled to keep the Mariners from scoring as they shot 56.5% from the field in the game, and when they did miss, they recorded 45 rebounds to Mount Saint Mary's 17. Brianna Guglielmo opened up the quarter with a couple of scores for the Knights, but the team would go scoreless for the next three and a half minutes, as they trailed by as much as 18. The Mount won the turnover battle 22-17, though Merchant Marine still found a way to score more points off turnovers, as the Knights could not capitalize.

Mount Saint Mary found themselves down 42-28, as they looked to flip the script in the second half. The Knights had a hot start to the quarter, with Maggie Trinkaus hitting a three to cut their deficit to single digits, 46-37. Once again, the Mount would hit a scoring drought, allowing Merchant Marine to build their lead back up to 15 as the Knights did not score for nearly 5 minutes. The Mount would trail 62-42 heading into the fourth quarter with just 10 minutes left to play.

Merchant Marine started off the fourth on a 9-0 run before Darcy DeBenedittis got the Knights back on the board. Reese Mayer and Brianna Guglielmo were tied for the Mount's leading scorers in the game with 12, as Mayer also finished the game with a perfect 5 assists with 0 turnovers. The Knights would ultimately drop this game to Merchant Marine 84-56, as the Knights are now 11-4 in Skyline Conference play.
