Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary entered back into conference play after the New Year, hoping to break their 4-game losing streak against St. Joseph's Brooklyn. A career day for Maggie Trinkaus started early, scoring 10 of the Knights' first 12 points of the game. The Knights dominated the first quarter, ending the period on a 12-0 run capped off by a three-pointer by Gabby Ziegenbalg to give the Mount an 18-6 lead.

Ziegenbalg would knock down another one of her season-high 5 made threes at the beginning of the second quarter, as the Knights relied heavily on her and Maggie Trinkaus this game. Mount Saint Mary struggled to make shots in the quarter, only hitting 4 of their 15 attempts from the field. Their big first quarter helped mask their slow second period, as they managed to lead 28-20 at the half.

The Knights would have a much better third quarter, but so would the Bears, who had just 20 points in the first half. Brooklyn made just 8 of their 30 attempts in the first half; however, they would find a way to turn it up in the second half, especially from beyond the arc, shooting 54.55%. Brianna Guglielmo, who was in foul trouble to start the game, scored a couple of baskets in the quarter. Maggie Trinkaus continued to dominate as she seemed to be unguardable in the Knights' last two contests, posting back-to-back 20-point games and a career-high 25 points in this game.

The Mount held a 46-37 lead heading into the final 10 minutes of play, but this one was far from over. Though the Knights would open up the quarter with two quick baskets from Gabby Ziegenbalg and Darcy DeBenedittis, the Bears got hot and took advantage of their 16 offensive rebounds. Brooklyn hit 4 threes in the quarter and would tie things up 59-59 with just 25 seconds remaining. The Knights would rely on Maggie Trinkaus on their final possession as she drew a foul and gave them the lead at the free-throw line. Mount Saint Mary would force a Bears missed shot on the final possession of the game as they came away with a 60-59 win.
