Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary looked to take over sole possession of third place in the Skyline with a victory over Purchase College. Maggie Trinkaus would score the first 6 points for the Knights as she continues her hot streak, averaging 21.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game over the last three games. A steal from Brianna Guglielmo followed by a Keira Frias layup put the Mount up 13-5 and forced a Panthers timeout. Reese Mayer stuffed the stat sheet this game with 11 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals to help round out a 10-0 to end the quarter.

Gabby Ziegenbalg would get things going in the second quarter with a three, as she currently leads all freshmen in the Skyline with 23 makes from beyond the arc. This was the Knights' best shooting performance across the board this season, shooting 49.2% from the field and 42.9% from three. Maggie Trinkaus would convert an and-one to put Mount Saint Mary up 34-15 late in the first half. The Mount desperately missed junior guard Angelina Donato over the past month-plus of the season as she returned to the lineup fully healthy for the first time since November 29th. She scored the last 4 points of the half for the Knights as they took a 38-21 lead heading into the locker room.

The Knights were not only clicking offensively, but also played lockdown defense all game. In the third quarter, they held Purchase to just 1 made field goal and 25.0% shooting for the game. Sara Cashin has been a force for the Mount in the paint all season long and made her presence felt in the quarter with a couple of put-backs on the offensive end. The Knights once again outscored the Panthers 17-9 in the third as they led 55-30 with just 10 minutes remaining.

Off an offensive rebound, Angelina Donato would find Gabby Ziegenbalg for a deep three, five feet beyond the arc to start a 25-point quarter for the Knights. Grace Christie and Darcy DeBenedittis provided some offense for the Mount in the quarter, combining for 11 points. 10 of the 11 active players for the Knights would score today as they got valuable minutes from everyone, including 30 points from their bench. Mount Saint Mary would defeat Purchase College 80-44 to improve to 6-2 in conference and move into sole possession of third place.
