Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary started off its Skyline Conference play against Yeshiva University Sunday afternoon. The Maccabees opened up the game with a couple of shots towards goal, but nothing that senior keeper
Noah Horn couldn't handle. The Knights flipped a switch and started to put pressure on the Yeshiva defense with a couple of shots on goal from
Quinn Tynan and
Jeremy Burgos. The Maccabees would be the first team to strike, scoring in the 34th minute to take a 1-0 lead. It wouldn't take very long though for the Mount to respond. Less than 4 minutes later,
Jeremy Burgos would find Ethan Wallce for the equalizer putting the Knights right back in the game. We would be all tied up heading into the half as the Knights looked to come away with a win in their first Skyline match this season.
Mount Saint Mary would have to overcome a lot in the second half after an early red card in the 67th from the Knights goal scorer
Ethan Wallace had them playing down a man for the remainder of the game. The Mount wouldn't just batten down the hatches on defense and hope to come away with a draw, but instead continued to push the pace and create some offensive chances. Late in the game,
Liam Hughes had a great chance to score off a through ball on the left side that would be saved by the Maccabees keeper. Yeshiva attempted a counter attack in the last minute of the game, but the Knights defense was ready, making a great team save by kicking the ball out of harms way just before it crossed the goal line. The final score would end up being 1-1 as both teams walked away with a point.
