Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary looked to rebound after a close loss to Manhattanville against Medgar Evers. The Knights jumped right on the Cougars out of the gate, and
TJ Mark cleaned up a goal right in front of the net, assisted by
Liam Hughes and
Jeremy Burgos. The Mount continued to pepper the Medgar Evers defense with shots, and it was not too long before another shot found the back of the net.
Quinn Tynan found
Marco Mazzarelli on a header to extend their lead to 2-0. The goals may have stopped for a bit, but the chances did not, as the Knights dominated throughout the match, putting 20 shots on goal with 10 in each half. Just before the final whistle, Mazzarelli would find
Ethan Wallace, who buried a strike from well outside the box into the left side of the net to make it 3-0 Mount Saint Mary.
To start off the second half, a miscue in the midfield for the Knights led to a breakaway chance for Medgar Evers, who would end up scoring to make it 3-1. The Mount did not let that one mistake faze them, as they went right back to controlling possession in the Cougars' half of the field. In the 55th minute,
Ethan Wallace found
Marco Mazzarelli on a through ball to make it a three-goal game once again, 4-1. The offensive opportunities just kept on coming for the Knights as they did a great job finding each other's feet and moving the ball up the field.
Cam Welsh would use his speed to draw a foul in the penalty area, giving
Jeremy Burgos a chance to add on to their lead. An unsavable penalty kick attempt from Burgos made it 5-1 for Mount Saint Mary and pretty much sealed the match. All 21 active players for the Knights got to see the field and provide valuable minutes. The final score of the game would be 5-1 as the Mount has now won 4 of their last 5 matches.
