Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary got back into conference play and looked to jump the standings against Purchase College on Alumni Day. The first shot on goal of the game would come from the Panthers off a set piece after a foul from the Knights. Purchase would stun the Mount with the opening goal in the 17th minute.
Marco Mazzarelli, the focal point of every opposing team's defensive game plan, had some good looks to wake up the Mount Saint Mary offense, including a header that would nail the crossbar. The Knights had some good chances in the first half, but were going to have to execute better in the final 45 if they were to come away with a win.
The second half was dominated by the Mount Saint Mary offense, as the Panthers' defense did everything they could to keep them out of the net. The Knights outshot Purchase 13-6 in the second half and 8-3 on goal.
Quinn Tynan looked to replicate the free-kick goal he had last week against Sarah Lawrence in the same location on the field in the 63rd minute. Tynan placed the ball in the same spot, but the Purchase keeper was able to make the save. Constant pressure was put on the Panthers' defense with great runs from the Knights' freshman wingers,
TJ Mark and
Cam Welsh. Welsh nearly had the equalizer in the 80th minute, but pushed the ball just wide of the goal. With just 4 minutes remaining,
TJ Mark would find
Ryan Kieser for the electrifying game-tying goal to make it 1-1. The Knights were able to come away with a point in their draw with the Panthers.
