Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary looked to stay undefeated in Skyline play against the defending champion Manhattanville University. The Valiants controlled the ball for the majority of the half, but the Knights' defense did a great job preventing very many scoring chances. Manhattanville would get a few good looks, though they would run into
Noah Horn, who has been more than solid for the Mount in goal all year in goal. The Valiants would connect on a few good passes before the end of the half and end up putting one into the back of the net to go up 1-0.
The Knights looked like a different team in the second half, playing more through possession, which opened up some offensive opportunities for them. With only 1 total shot to show for in the first half, the Mount created 6 more in the second half, including 4 shots on goal.
Jeremy Burgos, who returned to action for the Knights after missing time due to injury, had a good look at goal, but was unable to get the ball past the Manhattanville keeper. Just when the Mount and
Cam Welsh thought they had the game all tied up 1-1, his goal would be called back due to offside. Moments later, the Valiants would take advantage of a set-piece foul and put another goal on the board to extend their lead to 2-0. The Knights did not give up, continuing to battle hard until the final whistle. Ultimately, they would run out of time as they would lose their first conference match of the year 2-0.
