Rapid Recap
Following a hard-fought loss over the weekend, the Knights aimed to get back on track in the second contest of a challenging six-game road stretch as they continue to prepare for Skyline Conference play. The Knights came out aggressive from the opening whistle, immediately putting pressure on the Jersey City back line and testing the goalkeeper with multiple early shots on target. Their high tempo and attacking mindset set the tone for the first half, as Mount Saint Mary looked to establish control and capitalize on their early momentum. Senior midfielder
Emma Mihale was able to capitalize and put Mount Saint Mary on the board first. Both teams went back and forth in the midfield as the Knights defense was able to deflect Jersey City from having too many opportunities in their offensive third. In the closing moments of the first half, Jersey City capitalized on a scoring opportunity to even the score.
The Knights aimed to build on their momentum entering the second half, but their rhythm was quickly disrupted when Jersey City struck early to take the lead. Junior goalkeeper
Elizabeth Lennane has continued her impressive start to the season, making 11 saves with a standout performance between the pipes. The Knights were unable to get the breakthrough they needed to tie the score, even though the midfield action was still back and forth. They pushed forward with urgency and commitment, creating a number of excellent opportunities, but were often stopped by a strong defense. Mount Saint Mary now aims to regroup and sharpen their focus as they enter the final stretch of their non-conference schedule.
