POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College men's soccer team stumbled late in its season opener at SUNY Potsdam.

The Mount Saint Mary College Knights opened up their season on the road against SUNY Potsdam as part of a 2-game road trip. Goalie Noah Horn was tested early in his first game for the Mount, making a save in the opening minutes. The Bears had the first couple of shots on goal, as the Knights' attack didn't come to life until the end of the first half. Who else but the Marco Mazzarelli, Quinn Tynan duo to get Mount Saint Mary on the board for the first time this year, putting the team up 1-0 entering the half.
The Knights continued their attack into the second half of play, with Liam Hughes putting a shot on goal in the 56th minute. Both squads would get some good looks, but neither keeper was budging until the 75th minute. Potsdam took advantage of a corner kick and would convert on the equalizer to make the game 1-1. The Knights responded with 3 shots on goal in the 81st minute from Ryan Alvarado, Jack Hoffman, and Alex Napoli, but were unable to get any of them in the net. With the clock winding down, the Bears had yet another corner kick attempt in the 88th minute that they would score on and take the lead 2-1. Mount Saint Mary would be unable to respond and ultimately fell to SUNY Potsdam late in the game 2-1.
