Mount Saint Mary looked to rebound after a tough loss late in the game the day prior to SUNY Potsdam. The Knights had less than 24 hours of rest in between games, but they did not let that faze them.
Jeremy Burgos opened up the game by going for goal right away after missing yesterday's match. Canton responded with 2 shots on target of their own, but senior keeper
Noah Horn was stout in goal for the Mount this afternoon, recording his first clean sheet of the season. Burgos was eager to score, attempting 5 shots in the first half alone, as it was only a matter of time before the Kangaroos' defense cracked.
Captain and leading goal scorer from last season,
Marco Mazzarelli, opened up the floodgates in the 51st minute with a strike to the bottom right corner off an assist from
Liam Hughes, who recorded his first-career point. Minutes later,
Jeremy Burgos converted on a pass from
Sam Bevevino, who also recorded his first-career assist, to put Mount Saint Mary up 2-0. The Knights continued their offensive onslaught as
Jack Hoffman poked one into the goal in the 65th minute to extend their lead to 3-0. Freshman
Michael Hilas subbed into the game and immediately made his impact felt, setting up
Marco Mazzarelli for his second goal of the match. Hilas capped off the match with a goal of his own right inside the 18 to make the score 5-0 MSMC.
