NEWBURGH, NY. – The Mount Saint Mary College baseball team had an offensive barrage defeating Lehman 21-8 in an eight-inning contest ending on the mercy rule.

Liam Horan got the start for the Knights and struck out the side in the top half of the 1st. Mount Saint Mary jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom half, with Frank Signorelli scoring on a steal and Chris Calvario crossing the plate on a wild pitch. The Knights exploded for four runs in the 2nd, sparked by Noah Anderson's RBI double and Signorelli's sac fly, taking a 6-0 lead. Lehman stormed back in the 4th, cutting it to 6-5 with five runs on a two-RBI triple and a run on an error. Mount Saint Mary responded in the bottom half, regaining an 8-5 lead with Tyler Van De Bogart's RBI double and Luke Barone's RBI single.

Lehman tied it at 8-8 in the 5th, scoring three runs with a two-RBI single knotting the game. The Knights erupted in the bottom of the 5th, plating seven runs highlighted by Anthony Voss's two-RBI double and Aidan Marshall's two-RBI double—to go back ahead 15-8. Mount Saint Mary piled on four more in the 6th, with Marshall's two-RBI triple pushing it to 19-8. The Knights sealed it in the 7th with Shane Finch's RBI double, reaching 21-8. Dale Beneway closed out the 8th, striking out the final batter to enact the mercy rule.
