Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary hadn't played a game in over a week due to some poor weather, but that wasn't an issue. Now in the beautiful Florida weather,
Liam Horan would take the mound for the Knights and quickly retire the side. Offensively the Mount would get off to an aggressive start, stealing three bases after three walks.
Tyler Van De Bogart knocked in a run with an RBI single to put the Knights up 1-0. The Falcons would respond with a run of their own in the top of the 2nd, though that would be all as Horan would get himself out of a bases-loaded jam.
Stephen Volk blasted a lead-off double in the bottom half of the inning, but nothing would come of it. The Knights would once again have bases loaded with no outs in the bottom of the 3rd. They could not take advantage of the opportunity as we were still tied 1-1 after three innings.
Horan would throw two perfect innings in the top of the 4th and 5th as the Knights looked to break the tie in the bottom half of the inning.
Tyler Van De Bogart got the only hit of the inning for Mount Saint Mary, yet they would still manage to score a couple of runs. The Knights had runners on all bases and with great plate discipline,
Noah Anderson and
Frank Signorelli would walk scoring 2 runs to put the Mount back up 3-1. Albertus Magnus seemed to always answer when the Knights scored as they would tack on a run to cut the Knights lead to 3-2.
Dale Beneway came in for
Liam Horan in relief for a save opportunity and absolutely dealt, going 1-2-3 in the top of the 7th.
Frank Signorelli singled in the bottom of the 7th and would steal his third base of the game. The Knights took advantage of some erratic pitching for the Falcons who walked the bases loaded. Mount Saint Mary would add on some insurance runs after drawing a walk and
Chris Calvarion scoring on a wild pitch, but
Dale Beneway did not need it. He would pitch 3.0 scores innings while not allowing a hit or run, earning the save as the Knights defeated the Falcons 5-2.
