Rapid Recap
The Mount Saint Mary men's lacrosse team got off to a slow start against a strong New Paltz offense. Junior goalkeeper Kenny Leen was locked in for this afternoon's battle against the Hawks making a season-high 21 saves while also scooping up a season-high 9 ground balls. The Hawks came out hot putting 13 shots on the cage in the opening quarter. New Paltz led the game by two until Senior Tim Doyle put the Knights on the board with 1:55 left in the first quarter. The second quarter was just as much of a battle as the first. The Knights defense which is led by Juniors Carter Laughman and Luke Dombroski saw a lot of action this afternoon. Laughman scooped up three ground balls and caused three turnovers in a defense-heavy game. Dombroski was just as dominant, scooping up five ground balls while also causing three turnovers for the Knights. Senior Joe Keating scored his first of the game to bring the Knights within one of the Hawks. Senior Bobby DeSantis was solid in the faceoff circle once again securing 6 out of 13 for the Knights. The Hawks tacked on three more goals and led the game 6-2 going into halftime.

The Knights started off the third quarter with Tim Doyle scoring his second goal of the game. The game went back and forth with both teams putting multiple shots on goal. Leen turned away six shots from the Hawks in the third quarter to keep the Knights in the game. Senior Joe Keating added his first of the game coming off of a career-high game against Rosemont on Saturday. The Knights continued to battle throughout the third quarter firing shots on the cage. Senior midfielder Larry Frank added another goal for the Knights at the end of the third but the Knights still trailed going into the final quarter of the game. The fourth quarter saw more back-and-forth action between both squads. Larry Frank added his second of the game to round out the scoring for the Knights.
