Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary entered today playing one of the top teams in the Skyline, but they did not let that affect them mentally.
Brenden Graham came out the gate with a good jumper for the Knights, followed by a three-pointer from his brother
Ryan Graham. The Graham brothers combined for 39 points, including a season-high 24 for Ryan and a season-best 15 for Brenden. The Mount was confident in their shooting this game especially from beyond the arc. They shot a season-high 48.0% from three-point range, which forced Sarah Lawrence to respect their shot-making ability. An 8-0 run for the Knights sparked by a
JP Egan three gave them a 13-7 lead early on, as this would be a close battle throughout with neither team leading by more than 6 points. Mount Saint Mary led for about 8 minutes before the Gryphons were able to take the lead back. Sarah Lawrence would stay ahead for the remainder of the half, but the Knights continued to play great basketball and were poised for an even better second half.
The Mount trailed 40-35 out of the locker room with who else but
Ryan Graham scoring on the first possession of the half.
Rob Geremino would tie things up on their next trip down the court with a three-ball as the Knights got off to a good start. They would take the lead 50-49 after a
Ben Toussaint three a quarter of the way through half number two. Both squads fought tooth and nail to pull away, but there was no give. Sarah Lawrence put the Knights in a 5-point hole after a 9-2 run that seemed to shift the momentum. The Graham brothers answered the call as they brought the game back to a tie with 5:50 remaining. The Knights would outscore the Gryphons 12-4 in the next three minutes capped off by a
Brenden Graham three-pointer. Mount Saint Mary led 78-72 with just 2:31 left on the clock as they were ready to put Sarah Lawrence on upset alert. The Gryphons refused to let up and fought their way back, scoring an and-one layup with 6 seconds remaining to take a 79-78 lead. The Knights were unable to get a good shot off and would fall short of a comeback in Bronxville.
