Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary celebrated Senior Day before their game with Mount Saint Vincent honoring
AJ Piedra,
Ryan Graham,
Connor Cyran, and
Ben Toussaint. The Knights looked to go out with a bang in their final home game of the season as they started off with a good layup from senior guard
Ryan Graham. The Mount went down 8-2 early, but an and-one from
Connor Cyran got the team on track offensively. A good three-pointer from
Daniel Herzner, who has got a lot more action these last few weeks, put the Knights back up 10-8. A big-time stuff from
Matt Monaco on the defensive end led to free throws for Herzner the other way. Mount Saint Mary was playing good team basketball and their play is even better when leading scorer
Connor Cyran is hitting his shots. The team did a solid job protecting the ball this game winning the turnover battle 17-12 and the points off turnovers battle 23-13. The Knights shot well from beyond the arc, especially
AJ Piedra who scored a career-high 11 points on Senior Day. Cyran, Piedra, and
Ryan Graham hit the final three shots of the half, which were all three-pointers including Graham's make at the buzzer to put the Mount up 32-30.
AJ Piedra hit on two straight makes from three-point range to open the half as the Knights went up 8.
Ben Toussaint got on the board as he was a force down low this game. Mount Saint Vincent came storming back to tie the game up 41-41 as Mount Saint Mary was held scoreless for just under 5 minutes.
Connor Cyran ended their drought, but the Dolphins took the lead just midway through the second half. The Knights took the lead right back after back-to-back three-point makes from
Justin Rivera and
Ryan Graham. After being tied 54-54, the Mount went on an 11-1 run in the closing minutes to take a commanding 65-55 lead. This would be too much for the Dolphins to come back from as the Knights came out on top 66-56.
