Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary was coming off a big home win on Senior Day against playoff-hopeful Mount Saint Vincent.
Ryan Graham, the Knight's leading scorer this game, got the team on the board with an and-one layup. Purchase would score 16 unanswered to jump out to a 19-3 lead putting the Mount in a deep hole. A couple of trips to the free throw line from
Liam Lynch and
Connor Cyran helped kickstart the team's offense. The Knights worked their way back into the game with
Brenden Graham cutting their deficit to just 6 with 7:04 left in the half. Mount Saint Mary did not make a field goal for the remaining 5:51 in the first, proving costly as they were down 40-20 heading into the locker room. The Knights struggled on the glass, getting outrebounded 42-26 and allowing costly offensive boards.
The Mount woke up offensively in the second half, dropping 51 points with the first 8 of the half coming from
Connor Cyran. Both Cyran and
Ryan Graham began to turn up from beyond the arc to start the half.
Daniel Herzner also had his best game in a Knights uniform this season scoring a career-high 14 points on 5-6 shooting from the field. Mount Saint Mary played extremely well on the offensive end in the second half, shooting 50% from both the field and three-point range, but we were unable to get stops on the defensive side of the ball. The Knights cut the Panther lead down to 12 with over a minute remaining, but the team's offensive droughts at the start and end of the first half made it hard to come back. Purchase College would come away with an 85-71 win over Mount Saint Mary.
