Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary made its way to Lexington, Virginia, to participate in the Washington and Lee Basketball Tournament, where they faced off against the hosting team in their first match. The Knights had their work cut out for them, as the Generals boasted a 7-1 record on the season. The Mount could not get their offense going to start off the game, being held scoreless until the 13:24 mark in the half, where
Brenden Graham would get the first points for the Knights at the free throw line.
Rob Geremino would finally score the first two baskets for Mount Saint Mary on back-to-back possessions, though they would still trail 19-5. Washington and Lee quickly overpowered the Knights on both ends of the court, showing why they only had one loss on the season. The Mount would find themselves facing a 41-12 deficit heading into the half.
Brenden Graham would get to work to begin the second period of play with a three-pointer assisted by
JP Egan, followed by a basket from
Matthew Walsh. The Generals caught fire from beyond the arc in the second half, knocking down 10 of their 18 three-point attempts for a 53-point second half performance. The bench unit for the Mount would find most of the success for the team this afternoon, scoring 28 of the team's 39 points. Though the Knights improved percentage-wise in the second half, they still finished shooting just 26.4% from the field this game. Both
Brody Schuh and
Kaleb Eller would provide promising minutes off the bench late in the game, as Schuh scored a season-high 6 points in just 5 minutes, while Eller tied his season-best with 5 points. The Knights would lose this one 94-39, and they will face the loser of Kenyon College vs. Marywood University tomorrow.
