After a tough last 5 quarters of offense, the Mount regained their footing with an 18-point second quarter, sparked by
Maggie Trinkaus. Down 21-11 midway through the quarter, Trinkaus scored 9 of the 18 points for the Knights to help them take the lead.
Ysella Kosic also provided 5 points during their run, as she continues to find a bigger role in the team's lineup each game. The Knights would find themselves up 25-23 heading into the halftime break.
Sara Cashin would open up the third quarter with a three-point make as she made a career-high three shots from beyond the arc in this contest.
Maggie Trinkaus continued to be the Mount's workhorse down low, as Alfred had no answer for her. Trinkaus drew 15 free throw attempts this game and made 12 of them as she led the team in scoring. The Knights were held to single-digit scoring this quarter as they trailed 38-34 with just 10 minutes remaining.
The Saxons hit a three-pointer to start off the quarter, but
Sara Cashin responded with two back-to-back three-point makes of her own to cut the Knights' deficit to just one. Mount Saint Mary's offensive woes continued into the fourth quarter as a 7-0 Alfred run put them up 48-40. The Knights were forced to foul in the closing minutes, as they hoped for free-throw misses from the Saxons, but they would go 7-10 from the charity stripe in the quarter. Although the Mount scored 16 points in the quarter, they would be outscored 22-16 as they fell to the Saxons 60-50.
