Mount Saint Mary looked to rebound after its loss to Sarah Lawrence with a victory over Maritime to close out Skyline Conference regular-season play. The Knights already clinched a playoff berth as the 6-seed and will play at St. Joseph's Long Island in the opening round. The Mount got off to a hot start, jumping out to an early 6-1 lead, including a couple of kills from
Jonaiya Williams. Up 10-5, the Knights would go on to score 15 of the next 16 points to finish off a dominant first set win 25-6. This run saw 5 aces from
Nicolette Pirro and 4 kills from
Julianna Simone as the Mount looked to make a statement.
The Privateers responded in the second set, going down early before taking a 12-10 lead. The Knights regrouped and took back the lead 15-13 after a couple of aces from
Erin Lema. Mount Saint Mary would then follow up with a 6-1 run to give them a 6-point cushion late in the set. Maritime would not go away, cutting their deficit to three, but the Knights were on their A-game, and
Julianna Simone would finish off the set with a kill, 25-21.
The Knights were now on the verge of a clean sweep, and even with a 2-0 lead, they knew they could not let their foot off the gas. They started off the set on a 5-0 run off services from
Sofia Fredericks as they took an 8-2 lead. Maritime would once again make things interesting early on, but the Knights turned up on a 6-0 run that featured 4 kills from
Julianna Simone as they went up 20-9. The Knights closed out the set, winning 25-15 and the match 3-0, as they finished the season with a 7-4 record in conference, their most conference wins since 2021.
