Rapid Recap

Mount Saint Mary came out strong and confident as they looked to keep their momentum going in conference play. They matched the pace and physicality of a strong USMMA squad from the opening whistle, demonstrating both grit and discipline on the defensive end. The Knights were well-prepared and resilient, successfully disrupting Merchant Marine's attacking rhythm, minimizing opportunities. Throughout the first half, Mount Saint Mary put multiple shots on goal, testing out the USMMA goalkeeper several times. Kaitlin Hansen got the Knights on the board in the 31st minute off of a combined assist from Delisianna Naccarato and Emma Mihale. The Knights closed out the first half with momentum on their side and a well-earned advantage.

As the second half got underway, the midfield played a crucial role in controlling the center of the field, setting the tone for the Knights' defensive effort. Meanwhile, Mount Saint Mary's back line continued to be the backbone of the Knights formation. Both teams went back and forth trading chances but neither team was able to break through. Freshman goalkeeper Julianna Ewashko delivered another impressive performance in her rookie campaign, making seven key saves to keep the Knights in the game. The Knights continued to battle but USMMA was able to push more opportunities in their offensive end. In the closing minutes, USMMA intensified their offensive pressure and successfully penetrated the Knights' defense not once, but twice, securing the victory.
