Women's Volleyball Victorious at Mount Saint Vincent

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's volleyball team came out victorious in a big win over Mount Saint Vincent.

Mount Saint Mary looked to get above .500 in conference play as the traveled down to Mount Saint Vincent. After the Dolphins scored the first 2 points, the Knights would score 7 unanswered to take the early lead. Vanessa Seymour showed off her service skills with 2 aces on their run and 5 total this match. The Knights extended their lead further, after 4 straight kills from Julianna Simone, Nicolette Pirro, and Jonaiya Williams to make it 12-4. UMSV hung around, but the Mount never let them get within striking distance, winning the first set 25-20.

The second set opened up with a 7-4 lead for Mount Saint Vincent until the Knights came to crash their party. After tying it up 8-8, Vanessa Seymour would ace 3 straight service attempts to put Mount Saint Mary up. From here, the Knights would take over on offense, finishing the set on an 11-2 run to win 25-14.

With Mount Saint Mary just one set away from the sweep, the Dolphins knew they needed to wake up. Mount Saint Vincent started off the set with a 7-4 lead once again, but the Knights would take the lead from them after scoring 5 unanswered, including 2 aces from Ava Robles to make it 11-10. Both teams traded runs, as the Dolphins would have just a 21-20 lead late in the set. Brooke Lavelle and Julianna Simone stepped up big for the Knights in the close-out set, as Ava DiScala put the finishing touches on the game with her 4th block of the match to win the set 25-22 and the match 3-0.
