Mount Saint Mary had come into this match with a chip on their shoulder after losing their last three games. The Knights came out swinging as Ciarra Quinn scored the first five points for the Mount. Outside of being tied 2-2, Mount Saint Mary never surrendered their lead to the Dolphins. Quinn had seven of her 12 points on the evening in the Knights big opening quarter. Brianna Guglielmo, the team's leading scorer this game, went on a personal 7-0 run as the Mount led 18-7 after the first. Mount Saint Vincent had a couple of trips to the free throw line to start the second, but the Knights stayed focused. Sophomore guard Angelina Donato did a little bit of everything this game including dishing out a career-high eight assists. Mount Saint Mary led by as much as 15 in the quarter and was up 32-18 at the half.

Both squads went back and forth in the third, scoring 18 points a piece for the highest-scoring quarter this game. The Knights stifling defense held the Dolphins to 29.3% shooting and only 1-11 from three-point range on the day. Mount Saint Mary dominated the points in the paint battle 36-22 and did not allow a single second-chance point. With Mount Saint Vincent attempting a comeback down by nine in the third, Brianna Guglielmo followed up an Erin Lofaro layup with an and-one to put the Knights back up 14 at the end of the third. Mount Saint Mary led 50-36 with only 10 minutes to play and continued to hustle on both ends of the court. Lauren Petrie had a hot start to the fourth quarter scoring seven of her nine points in the first three minutes. This put the Knights up 21 as they held the Dolphins to just six points in the quarter. Mount Saint Mary would beat Mount Saint Vincent 65-42 in this highly anticipated matchup.
