Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary had a rocky start on the road as they faced an early 6-0 deficit before Angelina Donato got them on the board. Manhattanville came out physical which seemed to fluster the Knights offensively. The Mount could not seem to get into a grove and trailed 19-10 after the first quarter. An and-one from Brianna Guglielmo, the Knights's leading scorer this evening, brought some energy back into the group. Angelina Donato cut the Valiant's lead to five on two separate occasions before a 7-0 Manhattanville run made the score 33-21 with less than three minutes remaining in the half. Mount Saint Mary bounced back, finishing off the quarter strong as Guglielmo converted another big and-one before the half.

The Knights came out in the third quarter with a different defensive strategy by running a full-court trap that caught the Valiants off guard. They forced four Manhattanville turnovers in the first two minutes which allowed them to tie the game 37-37. Six unanswered points for the Valiants were followed up by seven unanswered from the Knights who led 49-46 with only 10 minutes left. The Knights comeback effort was led by Brianna Guglielmo who had 8 of her 17 points in the third quarter. Mount Saint Mary extended their lead to eight at the 7:43 mark in the fourth after a Donato made three. From here, the Knights went on a near four-minute scoring drought that allowed Manhattanville to slowly creep back up. Margaret Trinkaus knocked down a 12-foot jumper to make the score 56-51 MSMC. With only 1:23 remaining, the Valiants scored a layup to take a 58-57 lead, but Elizabeth Lofaro was able to tie the game up 58-58 at the free throw line. A defensive stop for the Mount allowed them the final shot of the game. A Knights miss with four seconds on the clock and then a desperation heave from half-court for the Valiants went in at the buzzer to send Mount Saint Mary home in devastating fashion. The Knights lost to Manhattanville by the final score of 61-58.
