Rapid Recap
Coming off a home victory against CCNY, the Knights were back in the Kaplan Center Gym for their first Skyline Conference match of the season. Mount Saint Mary started the match off slow as the majority of the first set was kept tight. Down 12-9,
Brooke Lavelle and
Jonaiya Williams created some offense with kills assisted by
Aubriana Boyce and
Jaylyn Knight. Yeshiva hung around for a while, but the Mount exploded at the end of the set as
Ava DiScala had three aces on the Knight's 6-0 run to close out the first set 25-17.
Mount Saint Mary brought that momentum into the second set starting off on an 8-0 run, totaling 14 unanswered points, including four aces from
Julianna Simone. The Knights' hot start was too much for the Maccabees to overcome, as they never came closer than seven points. The Mount dominated and won the second set 25-12.
The Knights had now won eight sets in a row looking to make it nine with this third set. An
Erin Lema kill gave the Mount a 5-2 lead, but Yeshiva willed their way back in and took the lead 9-8.
Isabella Montemagno would check into the match to serve for Mount Saint Mary and lead them to a 5-0 run that saw three straight
Julianna Simone kills. The next three points for the Knights would also be kills from Simone, assisted by
Allie Kenney and
Sofia Fredericks. The Maccabees made the end of the set interesting, bringing the Mount's lead to 20-18. Coming in clutch, the Knights scored the last five points, two of which were aces by
Erin Lema, to win the match for Mount Saint Mary 3-0.
